Capps
Cove offers two comfortable bed and breakfast guest rooms in the main house.
The Ladies'
Room (above) houses a high back, antique walnut bed dressed
in crisp white vintage linens. A matching walnut armoire and a dressing
table complement the Victorian style of the room. Floor-to-ceiling
windows let in the morning light and cool breezes. This room also
has a private bath with tub/shower, which is supplied with bath salts,
soaps, robes, bottled water and plenty of towels.
The Gentleman's
Room has a mahogany bedroom suite with a handmade Toile Duvet
on the bed. The room is decorated with men's hats and accessories from
the early 1900s. Antique curtains billow in the easy, mountain breezes.
The private bath with tub/shower is supplied with bath salts, soaps,
robes, bottled water and plenty of towels.
When
you cross the wide, front porch and enter the main house, you step
back in time. A large foyer holds a Victorian
baby carriage and an early 1900 Edison cylinder phonograph.
The parlor or music room is home to a piano, violin, autoharp, guitar,
and an assortment of cylinder music boxes.
The
sitting room has a comfortable sofa, two fireside chairs, a fireplace
with antique mantel, and a collection of unusual oil lamps along with an
oak schoolmaster's desk. A wide, screened porch is a shady getaway on a
quiet afternoon.
Guests
gather around the large dining room table for a bountiful
breakfast. In the spring and summer, breakfast may be served
on the screened porch.
Take
the wide oak stairs to the two guest bedrooms and the upstairs balcony
with its antique wicker furnishings and view of the local stream and
wooded areas. Just the perfect spot for an early cup of coffee in the
morning, a quiet reading spot in the afternoon, or a glass of wine in
the evening.
Main house guestroom rates: $100
per night. Includes a full breakfast and afternoon refreshments. Taxes not
included. |
